Chongqing Gearbox

Chongqing Gearbox Co., Ltd. is a Chinese manufacturer of heavy-duty gearboxes based in Chongqing and a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). The company was established in 1966 and is one of China's main makers of large marine and naval reduction gears.

Its marine programme comprises propulsion gearboxes that transmit engine power, reduce speed and carry propeller thrust in a ship's main propulsion system. Product families include the GW series, which incorporates technology from Germany's Lohmann & Stolterfoht, as well as the GC and GVA series. The company also produces industrial gear drives such as mill reducers.

Chongqing Gearbox supplies deep-sea merchant ships, naval vessels and workboats, mainly for Chinese shipyards within and outside the CSSC group.
