CSSC Engine (CSE)

CSSC Engine Co., Ltd. (CSE) is a low-speed marine engine builder in Qingdao, China, belonging to China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). It builds two-stroke main engines under licence from both Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions, B&W engines) and WinGD, supplying mainly deep-sea merchant newbuildings.

The company has moved rapidly into dual-fuel engines. In 2025 its low-speed engine production rose 11.1% and deliveries 13.9% year on year, while dual-fuel engine deliveries more than doubled (+111.1%). CSE has mass-produced and delivered LNG and methanol dual-fuel engines, and reports that development of an ammonia dual-fuel engine has been completed.

Notable 2025 milestones included what CSE describes as the world's first methanol-powered VLCC main engine and its first 7S60ME-C methanol engine. The company presents itself as aiming to become a world-class marine power enterprise within the CSSC group.
