About Doen WaterJets
Doen WaterJets is a wholly Australian-owned designer and manufacturer of waterjet propulsion systems based in Melbourne. Founded in 1971, it has more than 50 years of in-service track record with workboats, patrol and naval craft, and ferries.
The range comprises two series. The Kompakt series has seven standard models for engines up to 960 hp and focuses on high thrust in a small footprint, with Direct Thrust (DT) and inboard (IO) options. The Optima series has eleven standard models for engine powers up to 6,500 kW (8,700 hp) for commercial and military vessels, using what Doen describes as an axial-build impeller with mixed-flow characteristics. Variants include a hybrid version with a self-contained parallel hybrid-electric waterjet, DT models and an integrated waterjet (IWJ) for fibreglass hulls.
Doen also supplies electronic control systems (ECS400, ECS-lite). The company partnered with MAN Energy Solutions (now Everllence) on an Australian military tender.
