Finnøy Gear & Propeller

Finnøy Gear & Propeller AS is a Norwegian manufacturer of mechanical propulsion systems located at Harøy on the west coast of Norway. It designs and builds reduction gearboxes, controllable pitch propellers, fixed and steering nozzles and remote controls, and typically supplies them as complete gear-and-propeller packages.

The company's CP propellers range from 1,000 to 6,000 mm in diameter with three, four or five blades in nickel-aluminium bronze or stainless steel; pitch is adjusted by a push-pull rod in the hollow propeller shaft, driven by a servo piston in the gearbox. Its single-stage reduction gearboxes cover 150-8,000 kW with ratios from 2:1 to 10:1 and can be fitted with PTO for hydraulic pumps or shaft generators. Other gear designs include GXU gearboxes for tight engine rooms, twin-input single-output gears, two-speed gearboxes and hybrid diesel-electric arrangements with PTI.

Finnøy's main markets are fishing vessels and aquaculture, with deliveries also to offshore, merchant, ferry and yacht applications.
