Flender

Flender is a German manufacturer of mechanical drive technology headquartered in Bocholt, with a history of more than 125 years. Its product range covers gear units, couplings and drive systems for many industries, including marine.

For ships, Flender supplies the NAVILUS family of marine gearboxes: single-input/single-output gearboxes for single-engine vessels, multiple-input/single-output gearboxes for multi-engine propulsion, generator gearboxes, dredger gearboxes and two-speed gearboxes for ships with several operating modes. It also supplies drives for offshore jack-up rigs and provides marine service through its Bruinhof Marine business. Typical markets include deep-sea merchant ships, naval vessels, offshore units and dredgers.

Flender was carved out of Siemens by private equity firm Carlyle in 2021. In June 2026 Triton agreed to acquire the company from Carlyle, with closing expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
