Hanwha Engine

Hanwha Engine is a South Korean builder of large marine engines based in Changwon. It was established in 1983 as HSD Engine and became part of the Hanwha Group in 2024. Shareholders approved the acquisition in February 2024, and Hanwha launched the company as Hanwha Engine on 6 March 2024. Hanwha describes it as the world's second-largest maker of low-speed marine propulsion engines.

The company builds low-speed two-stroke main engines under licence from Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions), including the electronically controlled ME-C and the dual-fuel ME-GI, ME-LGIM and ME-LGIA. It also builds WinGD X and X-DF engines, and supplies both Hanwha Ocean and other shipyards. It reports production of more than 100 million BHP of low-speed engines. Its milestones include building the world's largest engine and commercialising the first dual-fuel low-speed engine in 2013.

Hanwha Engine also builds medium-speed four-stroke engines, mainly Everllence auxiliary gensets. It developed DelNOx, a low-temperature SCR system for ships, in 2013, and offers dual-fuel engines for methanol and ammonia propulsion.
