Mecklenburger Metallguss (MMG)

Mecklenburger Metallguss GmbH (MMG) is a propeller manufacturer and foundry in Waren (Müritz), Germany. The company was founded in 1948 on a site with around 150 years of foundry history and has produced ship propellers for more than 70 years. It employs more than 200 people.

MMG specialises in large fixed-pitch propellers of up to about 11.6 m diameter and 160 t for container ships, tankers, bulkers, LNG carriers, cruise ships, supply vessels and naval ships. In 2006 it cast the propeller for Emma Maersk, then the world's heaviest at 131 t and almost 10 m in diameter. Output peaked at almost 200 large propellers in 2008, and more than 100 still leave the plant each year.

Product lines include custom espro propellers, the low-noise espro silent, redesign retrofit propellers that the company says save 6-10% fuel on average while supporting EEXI and CII compliance, and the ESCAP propeller boss cap. Reference propellers include a 10.1 m espro for the 23,000 TEU CMA CGM Palais Royal. MMG also produces centrifugal and special castings.
