Micro/SMR & floating nuclear plants
Prodigy Clean Energy
Canadian developer of factory-built, transportable and marine-sited nuclear power plants for microreactors and SMRs.
About Prodigy Clean Energy
Prodigy Clean Energy is a Canadian company based in Vancouver that develops transportable nuclear power plants (TNPPs). These are complete nuclear facilities built in a factory or shipyard and shipped to site ready for fuelling and operation. Prodigy says this approach avoids the cost overruns and delays of building nuclear plants on site.
It has two product lines. The Microreactor Power Station TNPP is aimed at remote and hard-to-reach locations, with land-transportable modules and a marine variant for coastal deployment and later relocation. The SMR Marine Power Station TNPP uses a marine structure as the complete power plant for grid-scale coastal generation with a minimal land footprint. Prodigy targets seismically active and climate-exposed regions with this design. Both are designed for a 60-year life with centralised decommissioning and can be deployed as multiple co-located units. Prodigy works with SMR and microreactor developers, who supply the reactor technology.
Prodigy has completed a government-backed R&D project for its first TNPP. It has a development partnership with Serco and has agreed with the Pabineau and Eel River Bar First Nations in New Brunswick to deploy what it calls Canada's first TNPP.
