STX Engine

STX Engine Co., Ltd. is a South Korean engine manufacturer headquartered in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. Private-equity firm UAMCO holds about 62% of the company, and it has about 870 employees.

It has three business segments. The civil business designs, builds, sells and services engines for ships and land-based power generation. This includes Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) B&W two-stroke engines and Everllence four-stroke engines built under licence, among them types from the former Pielstick range. The special business makes engines for tanks, self-propelled artillery and naval vessels, and has recently been the fastest-growing segment. The electronic communication business produces weather radars and defence electronics.

STX Engine is a separate company from HD Hyundai Marine Engine, the former STX Heavy Industries engine business. Its marine customers are mainly merchant shipyards and the Korean navy.
