Ambrey, a British maritime security firm, later reported that the Automatic Identification System data showed that 'the Marshall Islands flagged?tanker initiated escape maneuvers when the skiffs?approached on its starboard?side.
Ambrey reported one skiff "came very near to the tanker" before its armed security team fired warning shots. The skiffs then abandoned their pursuit and allowed the tanker to continue its journey without interruption.
