SolidSail rig
Rigid composite panel sail on a 360° rotating carbon mast, 800–1,500 m² per rig; the 1500 version tilts up to 70°.
SolidSail is a wind-assisted propulsion rig of rigid composite panels set on a carbon mast that rotates 360° and is controlled from the wheelhouse. The SolidSail 800 (vessels of 70–150 m) carries a main sail and jib on a symmetric boom. The SolidSail 1500 (vessels of 120–400 m) has a mast that tilts up to 70°, and the company quotes fuel savings of about 1,000 t per rig per year. Hoisting takes up to seven minutes.
