The VentoFoil is a rigid, non-rotating wing with vents and internal fans that draw in the boundary layer. Econowind says this suction multiplies the wind force on the wing roughly fivefold. Units are offered as a flatrack module, a containerised base-frame unit and a fixed version for newbuilds, so they suit short-sea retrofits. The 3-Series received a DNV Type Approval Design Certificate in July 2026, and the larger 5-Series is aimed at deep-sea vessels.
