About Bakker Sliedrecht
Bakker Sliedrecht is a Dutch electrical engineering company and system integrator based in Sliedrecht, the Netherlands. It was founded in 1919 by Sion Bakker as N.V. Electrotechnisch Bureau S. Bakker and moved to its present site on the Leeghwaterstraat in 1973. The company opened a service hub in China in 2010.
Bakker Sliedrecht designs and delivers power and automation systems for dredging, offshore, maritime and industrial applications. Its scope covers diesel-electric propulsion including DP systems, drive systems, switchboards, MCCs and control desks, e-motors and generators, submersible motors for underwater pumps (pioneered by the company in 1978), cabling and installation, and harmonics and FMEA analyses. It developed the BIMAC automation system in 2001 and has partnered with RH Marine since 2018.
Recent work focuses on zero-emission and hybrid solutions, including a fully shore-powered cutter suction dredger supplied with 10 MW via a 33 kV cable, and an energy-efficiency conversion of the trailing suction hopper dredger Schenge.
