Flexible couplings & dampers
CENTA
German maker of highly flexible couplings, disc couplings and composite drive shafts for marine propulsion, now a Regal Rexnord brand.
About CENTA
CENTA is a German manufacturer of power transmission components, founded in 1970 and based in Haan, near Düsseldorf. The company was acquired by Rexnord and is now a brand of Regal Rexnord. Marine propulsion is one of its main markets, with products used between engines, gearboxes, propellers, thrusters and generators on workboats, yachts, naval vessels and ferries.
The CENTA marine range covers several coupling families. CENTAFLEX elastomer couplings handle torques from about 0.01 to 24 kNm. CENTAX highly flexible couplings, including the SEC series, cover about 2.25 to 650 kNm for larger main propulsion drives. CENTAMAX couplings serve smaller drives, and CENTADISC disc couplings cover roughly 12.5 to 650 kNm. The company also supplies CENTALINK torsionally stiff drive shafts (3.3–150 kNm), lightweight CENTA carbon-fibre shafts, CENTASTART centrifugal clutches and flange bearings.
In marine installations, CENTA products are used to couple engines to gearboxes and gearboxes to propeller shafts, to drive thrusters, and to damp torsional vibration and structure-borne noise. The company operates internationally through subsidiaries and agents.
