Emri

EMRI is a Danish marine technology company based in Skovlunde near Copenhagen and a subsidiary of the Japanese electronics group Furuno. Established in 1972, it has supplied steering control, heading control and dynamic positioning systems for more than 50 years, for vessels ranging from cargo ships and ferries to large cruise liners and mega-yachts.

The product line has three pillars. The Steering Control System (SCS) is modular and can be adapted to many steering gear makes and types, including multiple rudders, azimuth units and steering gear pumps, for newbuilds and retrofits. The SEM300 autopilot is EMRI's fifth-generation heading control system, replacing the SEM200, with adaptive modes and full hot-standby redundancy. The JS/DP joystick and dynamic positioning system targets passenger vessels such as cruise ships and yachts and is designed to be operated without dedicated DP operators.

EMRI emphasises long service life, with systems reported in service for 30-40 years, and draws on Furuno's worldwide service network.
