Honda Marine

Honda Marine is the outboard engine business of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. of Tokyo. It builds only four-stroke outboards and marked 60 years in marine engines in 2024. The US site marine.honda.com presents a range from 2.3 hp to 350 hp in four groups: portable (BF2.3 to BF20), mid-range (BF25 to BF100), high power (BF115 to BF350) and jet-drive versions of 40–105 hp.

The flagship is the BF350, a 4,952 cc, 60° SOHC V8 rated at 350 hp at 5,500 rpm. It includes Honda's BLAST spark-advance system for faster acceleration to plane. Other high-power models include the BF115–BF150 four-cylinder family and the BF200–BF250 V6 family, both updated in 2025. The main markets are recreational and fishing boats, and the engines are also used on light commercial craft.

Honda is developing electric propulsion. At its 60th-anniversary event at the 2024 Miami International Boat Show, it said it was pilot-testing a 5 hp (about 4 kW) electric propulsion system in Japan, based on motors from its small electric motorcycles, and planned to apply the technology to small outboards. It also announced a Multi-View Cockpit camera system and autonomous docking technology.
