John Deere Power Systems

John Deere Power Systems is the engine and drivetrain business of Deere & Company, based in Waterloo, Iowa. Besides off-highway and power generation engines, it supplies marine diesel engines for propulsion, generator and auxiliary duty in commercial and recreational craft, and supplies base engines that are marinised by other companies such as Nanni.

The marine range is built on four PowerTech platforms: the 4.5L, 6.8L, 9.0L and 13.5L. Propulsion ratings run from 60 kW (80 hp) for the 4045DFM70 to 559 kW (750 hp) for the 6135SFM85, with generator ratings of 40-416 kW prime power at 1,500/1,800 rpm and variable-speed auxiliary ratings for the 9.0L and 13.5L. Engines are available as non-certified, IMO-exempt or EPA Tier 2 and Tier 3 versions, with selected models meeting EU Stage V and China Stage II. Typical users are workboats, fishing vessels, tugs, ferries and pleasure craft.
