Nabtesco

Nabtesco Corporation is a Tokyo-based manufacturer of motion-control components. Its Marine Control Systems Company supplies propulsion control and engine-related equipment for medium and large merchant ships, and Nabtesco reports about 45% of the Japanese market and around 40% of the global market for main-engine remote control systems.

The core product is the M-800 bridge manoeuvring system, which controls the propulsion engine from the wheelhouse or engine control room, including speed orders, engine monitoring and controllable-pitch propeller control. The current M-800-VII, launched in 2022, adds network functions and LCD displays intended to support digitalisation and autonomous navigation, and received ABS cyber-safety certification in January 2023. Nabtesco also makes electronically controlled hydraulic valves and GAP sensors for electronically controlled two-stroke engines, telegraph systems, side-thruster and fin-stabiliser controls, fuel supply systems for LNG and hydrogen, and digital tools such as TELEGRAPH AGENT automatic engine control and the DEEPSEA fuel-optimisation service.

In September 2026 the company announced an autonomous control system integrated with an optimal navigation application for Japanese coastal vessels.
