About Scania
Scania is a Swedish manufacturer of trucks, buses and industrial and marine engines headquartered in Södertälje and part of Traton SE within the Volkswagen Group. Through Scania Engines it supplies truck-derived marine engines for propulsion, auxiliary power and electrified systems.
The marine propulsion range consists of a 9-litre in-line five (162-294 kW), a 13-litre in-line six (257-772 kW) and a 16-litre V8 (221-882 kW), with auxiliary versions running at a constant 1,500 or 1,800 rpm. The updated 13-litre (DI13) marine engine offers more torque and power, a wider power range, 100% HVO compatibility and, according to Scania, up to 50% longer base-engine life. Scania also supplies engines for diesel-electric operation and electrified power systems.
Typical applications include workboats, fishing vessels, pilot and patrol boats, high-speed crew transfer and planing leisure craft.
