Zorya-Mashproekt

Zorya-Mashproekt is a Ukrainian state-owned gas turbine designer and manufacturer based in Mykolaiv. It is part of the Ukrainian Defense Industry (Ukroboronprom) group. The enterprise traces its origins to a government decision in July 1946, with construction starting in 1948. Its marine turbine designs date from the Soviet era.

Its marine products are the UGT series of naval gas turbines, from about 3 MW to 25 MW (for example UGT 3000, UGT 6000, UGT 15000, UGT 16000 and UGT 25000), together with reduction gears and complete gas turbine propulsion units. The engines have powered frigates, destroyers, landing craft and hovercraft, and the same turbines are used for power generation and gas compression. The UGT16000R (DT59) marine version, for example, is a three-shaft reversible turbine rated at about 16.5 MW.

The Mykolaiv plant was shelled in March 2022 during the Russian invasion but has kept operating. Kalyani Strategic Systems, part of Bharat Forge, acquired 51% of Zorya Mashproekt India Private Limited, with the deal completed on 31 December 2023.
