WindWings
Patented three-element rigid wing sail in 37.5 m (750 m2) and 20-24 m (200-240 m2) sizes for large and smaller merchant ships.
WindWings are rigid wing sails with a patented three-element design that the company says produces 2.5 times the lift of single-element sails. The 37.5 m version (20 m chord, 750 m2) targets ships over 40,000 dwt, with achievable savings of about 2.1 t of fuel per day per wing according to BAR. The 20-24 m version (10 m chord, 200-240 m2) serves vessels below 40,000 dwt. Construction uses marine steel and composites with five-year service intervals.
