C-POD
Sealed, seawater-cooled electric pod with two counter-rotating direct-drive propellers and no gearbox, used on Candela hydrofoil boats.
The C-POD is Candela's in-house electric drive: two submerged motors turn counter-rotating propellers directly, without a gearbox, inside a sealed, seawater-cooled pod that needs no oil changes. Candela says it offers four times the power density of other marine powertrains. On the P-12, two C-POD MAX units deliver 110 kW continuous / 160 kW peak each, or a combined 320 kW for take-off.
