Keel Cooler & Boxcooler Sizing / Engineering
Custom sizing of GRIDCOOLER keel coolers and WEKA Boxcoolers from customer engine, coolant and vessel data.
Most GRIDCOOLER units are custom-sized, though Fernstrum keeps some stock models. Customers send a recommendation form listing the engine maker, model and rating (BHP or kW at rpm), engine type (propulsion, bow thruster or generator), emissions tier, gear, heat rejection, fresh-water flow rate and temperatures, antifreeze percentage, hull construction, hull speed at full power and maximum seawater temperature. Fernstrum's engineers then specify the cooler and quote it. Boxcoolers and OMEGA plates have their own recommendation forms.
