CSSC-MES Diesel (CMD)

CSSC-MES Diesel Co., Ltd. (CMD) is a low-speed marine engine builder in the Lingang Special Area of Shanghai and belongs to China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). It is one of China's largest producers of two-stroke main engines, and its Lingang plant has been described as one of the world's most modern facilities for two-stroke engine production.

CMD builds engines under licence from both major low-speed designers. From Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) it builds B&W electronically controlled ME-C engines and the gas and methanol dual-fuel ME-GI and ME-LGIM versions. In 2012 it signed a contract to build the first Chinese-made G-type engine, a 7G80ME-C9.2 rated at 31,150 kW, for a 319,000-dwt crude carrier from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. From WinGD it builds X and X-DF engines. In June 2022 CMD delivered a WinGD 7X62DF-2.1 with iCER exhaust recycling, rated at 15,400 kW, which it described as the first of its kind.

CMD mainly supplies large engines for tankers, bulk carriers, container ships and car carriers built at Chinese shipyards.
