Danfoss

Danfoss A/S is a Danish engineering group. It serves marine electrification through Danfoss Marine, formed in May 2023 by combining Danfoss Editron with Danfoss Drives. Danfoss Editron is based in Lappeenranta, Finland. Danfoss Marine offers electric drives, electric machines and services for marine and offshore applications, and opened a Norway Competence Center in 2023.

Danfoss Editron supplies electric and hybrid powertrain components for ferries, workboats, crew transfer vessels, offshore vessels and tugs. Its marine electric machines use synchronous reluctance-assisted permanent magnet technology, in sizes up to 6 MW. Liquid-cooled EM-PMI motor-generators cover roughly 48 kW to about 900 kW per unit. The EC-series power converters can act as motor inverters, active front ends, DC-DC converters or microgrid converters in DC-grid hybrid systems.

From the Drives side, the VACON NXP range and the iC7-Marine liquid-cooled drive, which has Class NK marine type approval, are used for propulsion, thrusters, winches and deck machinery. Editron components are also supplied to marine system integrators and engine makers building hybrid and fully electric drivetrains.
