Kelvion

Kelvion is a German group that develops and manufactures heat exchangers. It has its headquarters in Herne. The business is the former GEA Heat Exchangers segment, whose roots go back more than a century. Triton acquired it and renamed it Kelvion in 2014–2015. Apollo-managed funds bought a majority stake from Triton in a deal announced in August 2025 and completed in January 2026. On 31 August 2026 Apollo agreed to sell Kelvion to SLB for about US$4.1 billion, with closing expected in the first half of 2027.

For ships, Kelvion supplies box coolers, gasketed, brazed and welded plate heat exchangers, single- and double-safety shell-and-tube exchangers, and charge air coolers. It also offers closed-circuit coolers, exhaust gas heat exchangers and oil-air coolers. Its box coolers are U-tube bundles in the sea chest. Round versions offer 2–21 m² of cooling surface and rectangular versions 9–120 m², suited to small and medium vessels such as tugs, barges, fishing boats, ferries, tankers, reefers, dredgers and icebreakers. The charge air coolers are fitted to two-stroke, four-stroke, gas and biogas engines built by major engine makers.

Kelvion's marine machine-cooling line comes from the Dutch company Bloksma of Almere. Bloksma was sold to GEA and renamed Kelvion Machine Cooling B.V. in December 2015. Kelvion has manufacturing sites in Europe, Asia and South America.
