About Kumera Marine
Kumera Marine AS is the Norwegian marine division of the Finnish-owned Kumera Corporation. It was formed in 2022 by merging Kumera AS in Sandefjord, which has more than 50 years of marine gearbox manufacturing, and Helseth AS in Hjelset, which has more than 100 years in propulsion. Kumera acquired Helseth in May 2018. Kumera Corporation also has plants in Finland, Germany, Austria and China.
The Hjelset plant makes controllable-pitch propeller systems. The 3H, 4H, 4T and 4SX models cover diameters from 600 to 4,400 mm and powers from 150 to 4,500 kW, and the 4TX adjustable-pitch propeller covers 800 to 4,000 kW. The Sandefjord plant makes propulsion gearboxes for CPP installations, typically with ratios from 2:1 to 7:1, a built-in hydraulic servo for pitch control and multiple PTO/PTI options. It also makes hybrid propulsion gearboxes, front-end and angle gearboxes, and customised gears for tugs and LNG ferries.
Kumera supplies complete gear and propeller packages to workboats, fishing vessels and ferries.
