Siemens Energy

Siemens Energy AG is a German energy technology group headquartered in Munich. Its marine business, part of the Transformation of Industry segment, supplies electric propulsion, automation and control, electrical distribution, energy storage and maritime services for ferries, offshore and research vessels, cruise ships, naval vessels and ports. In August 2026 Siemens Energy announced plans to carve out this segment as a separate company, initially under the Omterra brand, while retaining a minority stake.

The marine portfolio includes the SiShip BlueDrive PlusC diesel-electric and hybrid propulsion system with integrated battery storage, the Drive LV low-voltage propulsion drive (up to 5,500 kW at 690 V per propeller), Drive MV medium-voltage AC propulsion, Permasyn permanent-magnet motors for submarines, and low- and medium-voltage shaft generator (PTI/PTO) systems. BlueVault is its marine lithium-ion energy storage system for hybrid and all-electric vessels.
