Thordon Bearings

Thordon Bearings is a Canadian manufacturer of elastomeric polymer bearings and seals, headquartered in Burlington, Ontario. It is part of the family-owned Thomson-Gordon Group, which dates back to 1911. Its bearings are designed to eliminate oil and grease lubrication, reduce operating costs and give long wear life. They serve marine, hydro power, vertical pump and industrial markets.

In marine propulsion, Thordon's main offer is the COMPAC open seawater-lubricated propeller shaft bearing system. It replaces oil-lubricated stern tubes, removes the risk of oil discharge from the stern tube, and carries a Lifetime Bearing Wearlife Guarantee. It is backed by bearing grades SXL, XL and RiverTough, the ThorShield shaft coating, water quality packages and the BCMv2 bearing condition monitoring system. The T-BOSS concept takes this further to a sterntubeless ship design. Thordon also makes rudder bearings, TG100 and SeaThigor mechanical shaft seals, and ThorPlas-Blue deck equipment bearings.

Customers include merchant ships, naval vessels, workboats and cruise ships. Thordon has partnered with Hanwha Ocean on its bid for Canada's submarine programme.
