Through its Ward Leonard business, Fairbanks Morse Defense supplies MIL-spec electric motors built to MIL-M-17059 and MIL-DTL-17060, with nodular cast iron frames and VPI epoxy insulation. Lines include the modular NOVO1 family for surface ships, low structure-borne-noise motors used on Los Angeles, Ohio and Virginia class submarines, and pump, compressor, servo and winch motors from 1/16 to 350 hp, with Grade A/B shock capability and a 30-year design life.
