Geislinger Damper
Tuned steel-spring torsional vibration damper with oil hydraulic damping, 0.2–5 m diameter; Vdamp viscous version.
The Geislinger Damper is a tuned torsional vibration damper made of primary and secondary parts joined by steel leaf-spring packs. Engine oil provides hydraulic damping. It protects crankshafts, camshafts, intermediate and propeller shafts, and is built in diameters from about 0.2 to 5 m, with a dimensionless damping factor of 0.2–0.5. It is tailored to each installation and compatible with Geislinger monitoring. The Vdamp is a viscous damper with a broadband effect.
