MSR-powered 15,000 TEU container ship
Neopanamax 15,000 TEU container ship design with two molten-salt SMRs, 25-knot speed; ABS Approval in Principle July 2026.
Developed by KAERI, KRISO and Samsung Heavy Industries, this 15,000 TEU container ship concept is powered by two molten salt small modular reactors placed centrally in the hull for protection against wave impact and collision. It is sized to transit the Neopanamax locks and designed for 25 knots, needing no conventional fuel tanks or funnels. ABS granted Approval in Principle for the basic design in July 2026.
