Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP)
Cycloidal propeller combining propulsion and steering, with stepless 360° thrust vectoring, for tugs, ferries, OSVs and naval craft.
The Voith Schneider Propeller uses a rotating disk with vertical blades whose angle is continuously adjusted during each revolution. Rotational speed sets the thrust magnitude, and blade angle sets the direction, which can be changed steplessly through 360 degrees. This gives very precise manoeuvring for tugs, ferries, offshore and special vessels. A remote-controlled version (rcVSP) supports remote tug and ship-assist operations.
