Babcock LGE

Babcock LGE is the liquefied gas engineering business of Babcock International Group, based at Rosyth, Scotland. It provides engineering, procurement, project management and service for cargo handling and fuel systems on gas carriers. The company cites 60 years of liquefied gas experience and more than 600 systems in operation.

Its product families are sold under the eco- brand. ecoSMRT is a single mixed refrigerant reliquefaction system for LNG carriers with more than 150 units contracted. ecoFGSS is an LPG fuel gas supply system integrated with cargo handling, and ecoFGSS-FLEX applies the same approach to ammonia fuel. ecoAPEX combines reliquefaction and fuel heating on dual-fuel LPG, ammonia and ethane carriers. ecoETHN and ecoVGC address ethane/ethylene and other gas cargoes. ecoCO2 is a low-pressure cargo handling and reliquefaction system for liquid CO2 carriers.

Recent developments include the first contract for its ammonia fuel supply system, a next-generation ecoSMRT 2.5, and completion of the first commercial gas trial of ecoCO2 in December 2025.
