ecoSMRT reliquefies excess boil-off gas on LNG carriers using a single mixed refrigerant process and returns it to the cargo tanks. More than 150 systems have been contracted and over 100 vessels operate it, across 25+ shipowners. The standard unit has a guaranteed 1.9 t/h capacity (up to 2.1 t/h). The next-generation ecoSMRT 2.5 is rated 2.5 t/h (up to 2.7 t/h). Babcock quotes a specific power consumption of 0.74 kWh/kg.
