Patent-pending system combining reliquefaction and fuel gas heating on dual-fuel LPG, ammonia and ethane carriers.
ecoAPEX links two energy demands on dual-fuel gas carriers: the heat removed from boil-off vapour during reliquefaction is used to warm low-temperature fuel. Together with higher-capacity compression, Babcock LGE says this improves reliquefaction efficiency by up to 33% and cuts reliquefaction energy use by about 25%. It is aimed at LPG, ammonia and ethane carriers, and the fuel integration can be retrofitted.
