The Type A, AX and AT engines are Akasaka's own low/medium-speed four-stroke diesels for direct-drive propulsion of coastal cargo ships and tankers. The AT covers 749–1,499 kW and the AX covers 1,176–1,912 kW, both at 260–320 rpm. The larger Type A covers 1,618–3,309 kW at 210–310 rpm.
