Alfa Laval OceanGlide
Fluidic air lubrication creating an air layer under the flat bottom; the company cites up to 12% propulsion power savings.
OceanGlide uses fluidic technology (flow control through shaped channels, with no moving parts) to spread micro-bubbles through wing-shaped air distribution bands under the vessel's flat bottom. Sections can be controlled individually, few hull penetrations are needed and typically one to three compressors are used. Alfa Laval cites up to 12% propulsion power savings. On the coaster M/V Tharsis the company reports fuel savings of up to 10% after a one-week installation. A next-generation version was launched in 2026.
