Trent-derived naval gas turbine, 36 or 40 MW, over 40% thermal efficiency; used on major frigate, destroyer and carrier programmes.
The MT30 is a marine version of the Trent aero engine family, based on the Trent 800. It is rated at 36 or 40 MW, flat-rated to 38°C, with over 40% thermal efficiency. The bare engine weighs 6,500 kg and the package about 32,000 kg. It drives alternators at 3,000 or 3,600 rpm, or mechanical loads at 2,800–3,600 rpm. It is used on the QE-class carriers, Type 26/Hunter/River-class frigates, the Freedom-class LCS, DDG-1000, Daegu/Ulsan-class frigates, LHD Trieste and Mogami-class frigates.
