UK naval pressurised water reactor plants for Vanguard, Astute, Dreadnought and future SSN-AUKUS submarines.
Rolls-Royce Submarines designs and builds the UK's naval nuclear propulsion plant in Derby. Its reactor plants power the Vanguard-, Trafalgar- and Astute-class submarines. The PWR3 plant is at the heart of the Dreadnought-class SSBN programme and will be used in SSN-AUKUS attack submarines, expected in service in the 2040s. Rolls-Royce says its advanced reactor cores allow 20+ years of operation without refuelling.
