Hanshin's electronically controlled engines replace the cam-driven fuel pump with a hydraulically operated injection pump. This allows injection timing and pressure to be set independently across the load range. The company says fuel consumption is lower than on conventional models, especially at low load, which suits vessels with long low-load or cargo-handling periods. Models are the LA32E (1,618 kW at 280 rpm), LH41LAE (2,647 kW at 240 rpm) and LH46LAE (3,309 kW at 220 rpm), all six-cylinder.
