Modular multi-megawatt DC grid linking generators, batteries, shore power and propulsion drives, with microsecond semiconductor fault protection.
The DC-Hub is The Switch's modular DC power system for multi-megawatt vessels. Building blocks include motor/generator inverters, an active front end, an electronic bus link (EBL) to connect several hubs and a DC/DC chopper for batteries and other DC sources. Protection devices include an electronic DC breaker that isolates faults within 10 microseconds, a DP3-rated, DNV-approved EBL that can split the grid in microseconds, an electronic current limiter and a battery short-circuit limiter.
