Brunvoll

Brunvoll AS is a family-owned Norwegian supplier of propulsion and manoeuvring systems, founded in 1912 and headquartered in Molde. It employs about 600 people at three main facilities in Norway.

The company is best known for thrusters. Its tunnel thrusters (FU 37 to FU 135) cover about 75–4,400 kW with propeller diameters of 850–3,500 mm, in fixed-pitch and controllable-pitch versions and in standard, resiliently mounted and LowNoise designs. Brunvoll also makes azimuth propulsion thrusters (pulling open-propeller and pushing ducted types), retractable azimuth thrusters (AR 63 to AR 115, about 500–3,500 kW) including combi and shock-qualified versions, and permanent-magnet rim-driven thrusters (RDT, 200–1,600 kW).

Its wider range includes complete diesel-mechanical, electric and hybrid propulsion systems, controllable-pitch and contra-rotating propellers, reduction gearboxes, and BruCon automation for propulsion and thruster control, DP and joystick control, and condition monitoring. Its main markets are offshore wind service vessels, fishing vessels, ferries, research ships and merchant ships. In 2025 Brunvoll signed a contract with Samsung Heavy Industries for 45 thrusters, which it describes as the largest contract in its history.
