About

The company carries the name of its founder, the engineer John Clifford Garrett. Later milestones include the first turbocharged production car in 1962 and the first variable geometry (VNT) turbo on a diesel passenger car in 1995.

Garrett Motion became a stand-alone company in 2018 and marked its 70th anniversary in 2025, when President and CEO Olivier Rabiller rang the Nasdaq Opening Bell. The site shows corporate headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland, and Plymouth, USA, a global team of about 8,700 people, 6 R&D centers and 13 manufacturing plants.

Building on its commercial vehicle and off-highway experience, the company is expanding into marine, power generation, HVAC and industrial refrigeration. Its story page lists marine and back-up power turbo business wins in 2024 and Garrett MEG business for marine and genset engines in 2026.
