About

Rypos was founded in 1997, when Klaus Peter and Dr. Osama Ibrahim formed Rypos Corporation and began work on a self-cleaning diesel particulate filter based on sintered metal fiber. A patent for a self-cleaning filter system using directly electrically heated sintered metal fiber filter media was published in 2003.

The company is based at 40 Kenwood Circle in Franklin, Massachusetts, USA, and describes itself as both a manufacturer and a technology company with more than 25 years in emissions control.

In the marine field Rypos reports a US Navy retrofit in which an active DPF ran for more than five years on a barge tender and exceeded the emission reduction targets of the project. The stated mission is to partner with businesses to combat climate change through reliable, intelligent emission control solutions.
