About

Stromag dates its milestones from 1932 and makes power transmission components for drivetrain applications worldwide. Over the years the company has applied for more than 400 trademark rights and been granted over forty patents. In 2000 it designed, manufactured and delivered what it describes as the largest hydraulic marine clutches ever built, with torques of up to 2.2 million newton metres.

In the same year Stromag took over SIME, a French maker of industrial disc brakes that was renamed Stromag France S.A.S. in 2007. Companies in India, the USA, China and Korea followed between 2008 and 2010. The group was taken over by the investment company Equita in 2007 and acquired by Altra Industrial Motion Corp. in 2016; today Stromag is a Regal Rexnord brand.

Stromag GmbH is based at Hansastrasse 120 in Unna, Germany.
