About
The story of Vesconite Bearings goes back to 1958. The business originally focused on engine reconditioning and hard-chroming, and in 1968 founder and chemical engineer Alain Leger began researching bearing materials for the ultra-deep gold mines of South Africa. The chief executive is Dr Jean-Patrick Leger.
The factory in Virginia, South Africa, covers 17,000 square metres and operates more than 100 CNC machines, including 5-axis machines. Sales and administration are based in Johannesburg, and the company keeps international warehouses in the Netherlands, UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Namibia and Singapore.
The company has grown to some 140 employees and ships directly from the factory worldwide, in most cases within two to five days of the order. Besides marine it serves the pump, agricultural, rail, mining, heavy transport, hydro, wind and wave energy, earthmoving and construction industries.
