Yanmar

Yanmar is a Japanese engine and machinery group owned by Yanmar Holdings and headquartered in Osaka. It is one of the main suppliers of marine diesel engines in the small and medium power classes. Its marine business has two parts: commercial marine engines, under Yanmar Power Technology, and Yanmar Marine International for leisure boats.

On the commercial side Yanmar builds high-speed propulsion engines (series such as HY, 6AY/12AY and 6GY) and medium-speed EY engines (6EY17W up to 8EY33W) for fishing vessels, workboats, coastal and merchant ships. Auxiliary gensets run from the 4JHL to the 8EY33LW. Its dual-fuel EY26DF and EY22ALDF engines (about 1,100–2,044 kW) run on natural gas or diesel and meet IMO NOx Tier III in gas mode. According to the input data, a methanol version is in development. Yanmar also offers SCR systems, electric propulsion and lifecycle services.

For leisure craft, Yanmar Marine International supplies common-rail and mechanical diesels from 10 to 640 mhp. The range includes the GM and YM sailboat engines, the JH, 4LV, 8LV, 6LY, 6LF and 6LT series, and matching sterndrives and sail drives. Yanmar describes its sailboat engines as HVO-approved.
