About ZF Marine
ZF Marine is the marine propulsion division of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, based in Friedrichshafen, Germany. It supplies complete propulsion systems and components for vessels from sailboats and cruising yachts to fast ferries, tugs and commercial ships, covering a power range of 10 to 12,000 kW.
Its core product is marine transmissions: lightweight reverse-reduction gearboxes for fast craft, ferries and yachts; the cast-iron ToughGear series with ratios up to 14:1 for tugs, dredgers and cargo vessels; and hybrid transmissions with power take-in (PTI) from about 600 to 11,500 kW. Around this ZF has built a propulsion package business: the AT series of well-, deck- and stern-mounted and retractable azimuth thrusters up to 3,065 kW, including the AT 80 Hybrid; tunnel thrusters; fixed-pitch propellers and shaftlines; POD drives for yachts; and electronic controls such as SmartCommand, TotalCommand and the Joystick Maneuvering System (JMS).
ZF has expanded its thruster range in recent years with the AT 90 and AT 50 series aimed at tugs, ferries and workboats. Digital services include connectivity and predictive maintenance.
