The mtu Series 4000 is a 90° V-engine family in 8V, 12V, 16V and 20V versions, standard and long-stroke. The solution guide lists 746–3,200 kW. Since 2016 a hard-workboat rating of up to 4,300 kW (5,780 hp) has been available. Over 66,000 units have been sold, with more than 355 million operating hours. It is used in large yachts, ferries, tugs, offshore vessels and naval ships, and the latest generation is the M05.
